My brother Maurits has put a summary online of Basil Liddell-Hart's book "history of the second world war". That book is still on my to-read stack.
I appreciated Liddell-Hart's account of the first world war - though the subject is not a pretty read. During that war they managed to kill off tsunami-numbers of people not just once but during every major battle. With no gain. And a lot of times due to simple stupidity or lack of insight. Bah.
