Akasig has an idea for Plone as a semantic aggregator, he also mentioned an almost similar idea by Gillou. The only differences I see between [Gillou's] proposal and [my proposal] are, first, that Gillou might not be aware about RDF and RDF-S capabilities (so he might end with a Archetypes-specific aggregator inputting and outputting content to and from Plone sites only) and that Gillou must be able to provide code sooner or later whereas I may not be ! Gillou's idea got shelved in the end because Sidnei already has a project underway that does almost the same. Sidnei also mentions RDF in is document. I'll look at it after finishing another chapter for my dissertation :-)
Danny Ayers reacts to Kottke's article on the web as platform. Danny misses something though:
It's just a little frustrating when technologies have been developed for dealing with exactly this kind of scenario get overlooked. Theres RDF as a means of creating portable data, together with OWL quite sophisticated filtering and processsing is possible. WS-* techniques and soon hopefully OWL-S can be used for the piping, hopefully tending towards simpler, declarative web-oriented (rather than RPC) techniques.
Yes. Simple http for the communication and the sharing of information. XML, RDF and OWL as the mix that can give you good, semantically rich documents. Most of the stuff is in place. Http-with-xml (rss/atom as example) is flying all over the place. It works.
