Rope is Rdflib + zOPE. Rdflib is an python rdf library and zope is a python web application server. Rope is the combination. Current status
I started off with writing an ordinary zope product before I started with plone/archetypes. Someone doing it the "old" way might benefit. Also included here is the hard work of getting rid of rdflib's new-style classes, which didn't play nice with zope's database...
